I am Walter and created Beyond Scarcity Life to help you transition from a scarcity mindset to an abundant one.
Many people are not aware of the influence thoughts play in our life. Those thoughts come from beliefs and it creates our reality. I became aware of my beliefs growing in my 20’s.’
I went through different mindsets in my life. From an (semi) abundant life to feeling poor and back to an abundant life.
My story starts when I was around 9 years old. Archeology fascinated me at the time. I read some books and even attended an introductory course on becoming an archeologist. I wanted to become one.
My parents supported my enthusiasm. But after a few years, they told me that being an archeologist and make a living wage isn’t possible. Since they are my parents and an authority to me, I naturally believed them.
I was disappointed, but followed my interest to science. In high school, money became more important to me and started my first newspaper route at the age of 13. I wanted to be rich and strongly believed I would be eventually.
My parents gave a reality check. “Only a lucky few will become rich” and “you can’t have a loving relationship and be wealthy.” This time, I didn’t believe what they told me.
I followed my own feeling. I took some other newspaper routes and started investing my money at the age of 16. I read many books on the topic and earned great money. I was able to stop working at the age of 21 and resigned from my warehouse job.
I was happy to achieve what I set out to do. I reluctantly continued my studies and graduated at the age of 24. 2 weeks later I moved out. So far my (semi) abundant life.
I always heard around me the belief ‘life is expensive’. So, when I lived on my own, I started to be more conscious of my spending. Money for me wasn’t coming in as consistently as a salary. Thus, fears around money crept in. I wasn’t feeling so secure as when I lived with my parents and felt poor. It may shock you, but it is possible to have plenty of money and feel poor.
Few months later, I met then my now wife. For some reason I believed in my teenage years that women cost money (sorry, for the offense). This belief and ‘life is expensive’ shaped my reality for the next few years.
One day, my wife introduced me to the concept of beliefs and how it shapes reality. I developed a fascination around beliefs and the psychology behind it.
During these years, I saw my bank balance slowly drain lower and lower. I clinged on to what I had. Resulting in ‘losing’ more money and the energy to give to others. Investing supported my life, but I didn’t see it. I came up with failing side hustles just to generate some stable income.
Finally, limiting beliefs around not earning enough got dissolved and replaced by a positive belief. I trusted again that the universe provides enough for me.
Since that moment, I also regained the energy to give. In the months afterwards i got a strong urge to share my experience and knowledge to help you.
I sat down to collect my thoughts and share it here with you on your journey towards a positively abundant life!
